Just curious really, where do all the Astrid fans come from/live? Are we all brits, or is her music travelling overseas? And which parts of Britain if we're all brits?

I'm from Yorkshire although currently living in Sweden. I don't think anyone's heard of her here. I'll have to be the Astrid ambassader for Sweden - ha ha!

i live in london and got into goya dress via labelmates suede. i saw them play in middlesbrough on that tour way back when. later i bought the lp rooms on 12" & went crazy for it and started collecting. i even wrote to the label to ask about the band.
i liked less astrid's boy for you, which i felt lacked that taught and airy quality of rooms, but still astrid's voice and weird chords do work charms on my ears.
i havent heard the 3rd, but cant wait. even if it makes me crumple into a big wet puddle of tears like the 1st one does. o me!

I'm in California so her music does travel  Cheesy  I'm told there is a pretty strong legion of Goya Dress fans in San Francisco and I know fans in Arizona, NY, Boston, Chicago and Maine.  I think it's safe to say Astrid's music has universal appeal  afro

Hiya Wee Roo,

Lives in Glasgow been an Astrid/ Goyadress fan since 1994, but a bit of a dill and only found the forum today. Seen live supporting suede and T in the Park many years ago but would love to see her live more recently.

Other likes The Magic Numbers, Travis, The Sundays to be honest too many to mention. Post loads on TN and Travis forums hope to be as good on here. Cheesy

London.  I remember buying the Room CD/EP (Goya Dress) in Feb 1996 from an "Our Price" store in Uxbridge during my Uni days, though I never saw the band play.  I think the name of the band appealed to me as I'm half-Spanish and some of my relatives live in Zaragoza, Fracisco de Goya's home town.

I have seen Astrid play a number of times though, most often at the Borderline, just off Charing Cross Road in the West End.

Does Astrid's music travel?  Further to earlier answers, it's somewhat fitting that my cousins in Zaragoza seem to like all the GD/Astrid material I have brought over with me.  A case of Astrid returing to Goya.

Seriously though, I've been surprised at the range of people (colleagues / friends), from very different cultures and backgrounds who seemed to like the material.
